broken cable in carb

Postby jim bixby » Tue Jul 08, 2014 12:01 pm

I have an issue where one carb would not open via the throttle cable. I pulled it apart and it looks like a lug or end of the cable came off. can this be fixed? If so, how? I am completely new to these cars, so thanks in advance
Thanks, Jim

The cable should be able to be repaired. My local motorcycle/ATV/snowmobile dealer gave me the name of a local person that I have used to fix and build cables. You may want to check with a dealer in your area to see if they can do the repair or know someone who can.

It's pretty easy to solder a new end on the cable, the trick might
be finding a new end. As already pointed out bike shops should
have em.
Next thing is to check your throttle stops to be sure you
don't pull another end off. Failures like this are usually
the result of mis-adjusting the cable...basically yanking
the ends off at full throttle.
