Head and neck restraint recommendatioms

Postby Nick Sullivan » Mon Aug 11, 2014 5:50 pm

I'm currently shopping for my first hans device as im getting more serious about going road racing next year and I'm seeing lots of different styles and features. Rather than just buying one that I think would be good then regretting it as I usually do, I thought I'd ask you veterans which devices you prefer.

The HANS is the best overall IMO.

HANS for sure. With the current style tethers, I can't even tell it's there. Make sure you get the correct angle HANS. I am short (5'8") and drive a Red Devil. My HANS is the highest angle they were selling at the time I bought mine (2001).

My vote is for the Hybrid Pro sold by Simpson. It is usable no matter the degree that the driver reclines in the seat.

So that's what it's called... I thought you were just breaking out of the institution before each race and forgetting to remove the remains of the straitjacket.

I went for the Simpson "straight jacket". It'll be here friday! I still need to buy lots of other safety gear for next year but at least the big purchase is out of the way. Maybe Santa will bring me the rest..... or at least a gift card or 2. :D
