Rotan 593 engine identification

Postby Douglas Hargrove » Mon Mar 30, 2015 8:12 pm

I have acquired a Rotax 593 engine that does not have an ignition module.
I need help identifying which engine model it is and the ignition module it uses (and where to purchase).
The only thing I know about the engine is what connectors come out of the stator area, there is a 2 pin and 3 pin(triangle) orange connector and a green 3 pin. I believe the 2 pin is trigger and the green connector is charge.
It had a DPM unit connected and the engine ID stats it is a TYPE 593 (597cc)

Thanks to Dix I found the information about the engine:
3 pin(triangle) orange connector wires are red, red/black, & black wires, 290 watt stator.
2 pin connector, 2 wires (blue/yellow & white/yellow) no reverse.
Looks like the engine came on the 1999-2002 Ski Doo 600 sled except the 2002 Legend/Grand Touring

Any help in locating the right MPEM unit would be appreciated.

I see them all the time on Ebay for around $100, but you will have to get them re-programmed to work with your engine from a ski-doo dealer.

ebay might be your friend here. But you have to be sure that you get the right one - and there may be several models. The site has descriptions of these with pictures.

You can get your MPEM flashed by Rotax directly. Detailed info on $85.
