MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT AT NCM MOTORSPORTS
The Formula 600 Challenge Series released exciting news at NCM Motorsports Park about the 2016 Formula 600 Challenge Series season. Series founding partner Carl Maier announced that the 2016 series winner will be awarded a seat in the USF2000 Series for the 2017 season. The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship will distribute over $470,000 in prizes and awards in 2015. And the USF2000 Series champion will receive a scholarship package from Mazda to advance to the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires in 2016. This F600 Challenge Series scholarship is worth $100,000 to the winner of the Formula 600 Challenge Series. RJB Motorsports along with Tom and Fred Edwards will be providing two USF2000 cars for the series, one for rental.
Clint McMahan was awarded the seat for the 2016 season. Clint was series champion in 2014 sweeping all races. Dan & Clint McMahan along with Jim Murphy are the partners of Formula 600 Racing (F6R) who have helped build the Formula 600 Challenge into one of the most competitive entry level race series in the country.
The series was developed for young racers as a training ground to learn road racing with a formula race car that has speeds in excess of 135 mph, while shifting with a sequential gear box. The Formula 600 Challenge Series allows for true racing talent to be developed without a large racing budget. “We hope to see young talent from different racing backgrounds excel and make it to the upper levels of racing through this scholarship. Someday we hope to see a Formula 600 Challenge graduate in the Indianapolis 500.†stated Fred Edwards.
The Formula 600 Challenge moves to Mid-Ohio Sports Car course, July 3-5th for round #3 .
